“Watching Crow, Looking South toward the Manzanos Mountains” by Joy Harjo

crow floats in winter sun
a black sliver
in a white ocean of sky
crow is the horizon
drifting south of Albuquerque

the horizon dances
along the blue edge
of the Manzanos
wind is an arch
a curve
on the black wing of crow

a warm South wind
if it stays for a while
will keep a crow dancing for thirty years
on the ridge
of a blue mountain breeze
